Feeding the Hangry Monster

Feeding the Hangry Monster: How to Avoid Becoming Irritable, Cranky, and Downright Miserable

Have you ever heard of being hangry? Hangry is the state of being so ravenous that you are angry at the world around you. You say and do things that you don't mean and can't think of anything other than sinking your teeth into a delicious steak - or salad, if that's your thing.

The best way to avoid becoming hangry is making sure that you eat enough throughout the day. Most of the time, you don't get hangry between meals. Hanger strikes when you've gone long periods of time without eating any food, and you eventually transform into a hangry monster who no one wants to be around.

The good news is that you don't need to go through periods of being ravenously hungry, especially if you're prepared. Netrition has great products to keep you feeling full all day long while avoiding the hangry monster feeling - and the better news is that your friends will like you a lot better at the end of the day.

1. Eat Protein

One of the biggest secrets of keeping hunger at bay is eating plenty of protein. The average sedentary man needs 56 grams of protein per day to meet basic nutritional requirements. You can find protein from all sorts of sources, including chicken, red meat, and eggs.

Luckily, if you're a meat lover, it's easy to meet your daily protein limits. Consider eating turkey sandwiches, burgers, and hard boiled eggs as a snack.

If you're trying to keep your carbs low, you can always skip the bread and go straight for the good stuff.

2. Chow Down on Protein Bars

If you're on the run and don't want to resort to fast food to get your protein, we give you a thumbs up for staying on track with your nutrition. However, you'll still need to grab a protein packed snack so you can avoid the next hunger attack.

One of the most popular protein bars here on Netrition is the Quest Bar. The Quest Bar has 20g of protein per serving with 4-7g of active carbs. This quick snack will keep hunger pains at bay and the hangry monster far, far away. Best of all, it will also help keep your carb count low.

3. Build Mass While You Eat

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could help build more muscle mass when we're hangry? Thanks to Serious Mass by Optimum Nutrition, you can have your cake and eat it too (well, sort of).

Serious Mass is the perfect snack for between meals and makes you feel a lot less hangry. You'll have more power for your workouts and stay satiated until you're ready to dive into your next meal.

There's no reason to allow hanger to strike, especially when there is an assortment of great protein foods and supplements to fuel your day here on Netrition. Be sure to explore our shop to find the perfect product to fit your needs to keep the hangry monster away for another day.
