* This product is good if you are not worried about the amount of fat and calories in the product, as it is a good source of protein. However, I have found that for those trying to lose or maintain weight, there are much better alternatives. There are some terrific low-carb pastas on this site...choose your favorite and then you can whip up a nutritious alternative (vegan if you like) using nutritional yeast instead of cheese and a low fat silken tofu (I stick with organic) to mix with the nutritional yeast. I make 9 oz of sauce using 1.5 oz of nutritional yeast powder, 4 oz of silken tofu, 3 oz water and I add Coconut Aminos and paprika for flavor but you can of course flavor the sauce as you wish. It is a staple for me at home because I love that comfort food. Occasionally I'll add some low-carb breadcrumbs on top, a little extra sauce on the pasta and will spray the crumbs lightly with a spray oil and put it in the oven and brown the top. It's all yummy! One ounce of the sauce as made above yields 1.82g protein and 3.17 carbs (including .64g fiber) and 26 calories, with only .62g of fat.
* My 17 year old son is kind of a "foodie" with a pretty developed palette so I didn't know how these would go over. But he loves them. Eats a box nearly every day. I like that it's made with pea protein and a few, pronounceable ingredients with no dyed or artificial colors. It is not a low-carb product and doesn't advertise as such. It does have more protein so to me, if you're going to have Mac and cheese, this is the best of options.
