SBR-Lipocream
SBR-Lipocream® helps soothe, protect, and repair the outermost layer
of your skin by delivering the lipid-rich therapeutic benefits of an
ointment in a cream formulation. This makes SBR-Lipocream® easier to
apply, and less sticky and greasy, while providing the benefits of an ointment.
SBR-Lipocream® delivers repair and maintenance of the body's natural
skin barrier function, which is important for protecting skin against
many disorders that can cause dry, chapped, or cracked skin, as well
as irritation and inflammation.
SBR-Lipocream™ Skin Barrier Repair Cream is
a revolutionary therapy designed to help treat
chronic dry skin disorders.
The repair and maintenance of skin barrier function is important in protecting
the skin against many disorders which cause dry, chapped and cracked skin,
sensitivity, irritation or inflammation and also against the repeated use of water,
detergents and other irritants.
For the skin’s natural barrier to function properly, it is important that there are
sufficient oils on the surface of the skin and, equally, that there are sufficient socalled
“barrier lipids” in the outer layers of the skin.
SBR-Lipocream is designed to replenish the oils on the surface of the skin and
also to help the natural processes of “barrier repair” in the outer layers of the
skin.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
What should you know about your skin?
The skin is the largest organ of the body and has several important functions,
one of which is to serve as a water permeability barrier to keep body fluids in
and prevent dehydration.
This function takes place in the epidermis or outer layer of the skin, specifically
in a layer known as the stratum corneum.
Normally, the passage of water through the skin is closely controlled and a
certain amount is allowed to pass through in order to ensure that the outer
layers of the skin remain properly hydrated. This helps to ensure proper barrier
function. In normal healthy skin, which is naturally pliable and elastic, the
stratum corneum typically has a water content of 10-20%. When the water
content falls too low, the natural barrier function is impaired and the skin
becomes more susceptible to skin disease and more sensitive to repeated use
of water, detergents and other irritants.
What are the causes of damage to the skin barrier?
Damage to the skin barrier can be caused by a variety of external factors of
which excessive use of soap and water or other irritants, exposure to chemicals
and ultra-violet radiation are but a few. In certain skin diseases the skin barrier
is damaged due to the disorder itself.
What are the signs of damage to the skin barrier?
Physical clues to skin barrier dysfunction include loss of elasticity and pliability,
redness, excessive dryness, chapping, cracking and scaling. Your doctor will
help you recognize these warning signs.
What is SBR-Lipocream?
SBR-Lipocream has been specially designed for the repair and maintenance of
the skin barrier. It contains no fragrances, has a very low potential to cause
irritation, is hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic. SBR-Lipocream is a
departure from standard ointments or creams and consists of a unique base in
which nearly 70% oil is dispersed in 30% water. This important scientific
breakthrough makes SBR-Lipocream optimally effective yet cosmetically
acceptable - a combination of benefits long-awaited by dermatologists and their
patients.
How do I apply SBR-Lipocream?
Apply a very thin layer of SBR-Lipocream to all appropriate skin surfaces 3 to 4
times daily unless your doctor or pharmacist recommends differently. Your
doctor may recommend SBR-Lipocream as a sole therapy to help repair and
maintain the skin barrier function.
Alternatively, it may be recommended by your doctor for use alongside other
topical therapy.
When the skin barrier has been disrupted, it is important to continue treatment
even when the skin may appear to have recovered. Daily use of SBR-Lipocream
can also prevent or delay development of symptoms.
How is SBR-Lipocream supplied?
SBR-Lipocream is available in 100-gram tubes. SBR-Lipocream should be
stored at room temperature between 15 -30 C (59 -86 F). Do not use after the
expiration date printed on the tube.
