1 of 1 people found the following review helpfulJune 12, 2020Reviewer: Karen in Nebraska* My instincts say just don't bother with this, but I'll try to write an informative helpful review. I followed the package instructions to the letter. It doesn't clarify unsalted butter, so I used real butter. The package stated to add 1/4th tsp salt, I did. It says to cook over low heat, continually stirring until "thick, smooth, white, and bubbling on the edges". I did not use a candy thermometer. The mixture did not turn "white" and it wasn't notably "thick" when it started to bubble around the edges. The directions stated to remove from heat, cover, and let cool to room temperature. It did not say anything about stirring at that point. BIG mistake, the mixture became hard in the pan, so much so, I was unable to get all of it out into the butter mix. I tried to save the finished product with cream cheese, but it was a lost cause. It remained far too salty and tasted overwhelmingly like butter, even after I added the cream cheese. Not at all edible and I threw it out, a complete waste of money. In the least, the company needs to revise the package directions on this product. From reading the above 5 star review, it doesn't sound like they prepared it as directed. Leaving me to think the problem lies in the package directions of this mix. I certainly don't recommend this frosting. There are much better and far easier alternatives.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpfulMarch 11, 2020Reviewer: James in Maryland* The mix itself when combined with water and a tablespoon of lemon juice was quite delicious. It tasted just like a lemon lollipop. However, in my taste, three sticks of butter is too much. I will reduce to two sticks next time. The resulting frosting was too buttery too me and not enough of a frosting texture. However, that's no slight on the product itself, but rather my taste in terms of the suggested amount of butter per the instructions, but to each his own taste. The product itself is good.
