March 02, 2017Reviewer: Kenneth in New York* Using two capsules of Red Yeast Rice a day, and eliminating butter and cheese from my diet, I was able to reduce my cholesterol by 12% (from 240 to 210). Note that Red Yeast Rice is identical to statin drugs like Lipitor (according to my doctor) except it's possibly cheaper, and an herbal version. All the same issues with statin drugs still apply. I also use 2 daily capsules of 100mg NOW Co-Q10 along with the Red Yeast Rice, and I also take them with a meal containing healthy fats (eating sardines or avocado, or otherwise I'll take some fish oil capsules at the same time). You still have to watch your diet and limit saturated fats, but these help a little.This review is specific to Red Yeast Rice, 600 mg
