July 29, 2020Reviewer: Lissa in Wisconsin* I did not care for this. Strange, nutty, cereal like taste regardless of how it was seasoned. This review is specific to Beef Not!, Ground

April 06, 2020Reviewer: A guest* I have not had the opportunity to try the strips yet, but the crumble is very good. It tastes and cooks just like the frozen veggie crumbles once they're rehydrated but is way cheaper. They're easy to rehydrate and cook and make a great addition to many meals I've made. This review is specific to Beef Not!, Ground

March 28, 2020Reviewer: Winifred in Tennessee* I bought this due to the coronavirus "park it and stay home" suggestion/mandate. I knew it would keep almost indefinitely, be nutritious and perhaps ease my cravings for a burger. I prepared a small amount with purchased spaghetti sauce and enjoyed it over some Netrition Organic Edamame Fettuccini. Since I live alone, it fed me 1 -2 meals for 3 days. I had no idea what to expect, so I cannot say that I was disappointed, but The Beef Not is not a purchase I would make if I could readily go to the store. I cannot imagine serving this in any other way than smothered in a sauce of some sort. This review is specific to Beef Not!, Strips

November 30, 2019Reviewer: Joan in Pennsylvania* I've used this product years ago when my gynecologist told me that soy would relieve menopause discomforts and he was right! I don't need to use it now but over the years I have made stir frys with it when I didn't have fresh beef and I love it!This review is specific to Beef Not!, Strips

1 of 1 people found the following review helpfulJanuary 22, 2016Reviewer: Laurie in Nevada* I am reporting back again after almost 2 years of using this product. I just ADORE it, especially the Ground Beef Not (although they are all good--it's just that I always used to love ground beef more than chunks of beef...personal preference)! It is a perfect substitute for ground beef in/on things such as pizza and rich meaty-tasting tomato sauces. The texture is spot-on, it is economical, it is healthy, and it is so incredibly easy to make....I use about 4.25 parts of water to 1 part (weight) of Beef Not! and put it in a pot on the stove on low for about 4-5 minutes, stirring as necessary. It stores beautifully, never seems to go bad, and takes on the taste of whatever other ingredients/spices you put in whatever you make with it. I don't know how easy it would have been for me to stop eating meat if it weren't for this product. Even if you DO eat meat, this is more economical, healthier and better for the planet! This review is specific to Beef Not!, Ground

April 05, 2014Reviewer: Alexandra in Washington* I use TVP all the time anyway, but for real beef flavor I've been stuck with those expensive Morningstar frozen crumbles until now. These reconstitute well without requiring additional flavoring to taste like beef. They work great in recipes, retaining their flavor well even cooked in a soup or chili. If you'll pardon the pun, cool beans! This review is specific to Beef Not!, Ground

2 of 2 people found the following review helpfulJune 07, 2013Reviewer: Laurie in Nevada* I can't rate the product on taste yet, but I have important information that you will want to hear. I purchased the product not realizing that it is dry and will really give you about 3.5 lbs of product when reconstituted. It also has a shelf life of at least a year. That was all great news in my book....economical, and stores well. And now for the best news: look at the nutrition facts label. It has a lot of stuff on it that looks kind of suspicious to me, but I bought it anyway to try it. When my package arrived I saw that the only ingredients on the label were "soy flour and a trace of corn"....suspicious, I emailed the manufacturer to ask why all of those other ingredients weren't listed on my package. The reply was unbelievable: we HAVE to put in those ingredients by law in order to sell to federally funded schools, but not when we sell to the public. The only ingredients in there are truly non-GMO soy flour (no isolated proteins--yay!!) and a trace of corn. This just put the ingredients list for this type of food--vegan "meat" alternatives--head and tails over what you can find in the store. The taste reviews that I have found--while few--were all excellent, and I will report back after using the Beef Not! strips and ground that I purchased. But I can tell you that you don't need to let that label push you in the wrong direction. Try it!!
Editors note: "Beef Not Chunks have minerals listed on bag. Beef Not Ground lists just soy flour and corn(trace)."
