April 23, 2015Reviewer: Dave in California* Quite pricey, but the chocolate chip muffins were the best tasting low-carb muffins I've tried. I did add a little extra stevia because I like my muffins a bit sweeter, but I do that with any muffin mix. This review is specific to Muffin Mix, Chocolate Chip
February 14, 2015Reviewer: Janice in Pennsylvania* Reading another review, I agree about the crusty top of the muffins but I kind of like that. With that said, I ordered both the cranberry and the chocolate chip muffin mixes. I made the cranberry muffins first and threw some of them out -- I just didn't like the taste. So it took me a couple of months to decide to make the chocolate chip muffins. I agree that all of these products require a number of extra ingredients (eggs, melted coconut oil & butter, vanilla, water, heavy cream) & sometimes in odd measurements (1/4 cup plus a tablespoon, etc.) and are a bit of a pain to make. BUT the chocolate chip muffins are awesome. Literally full of yummy low carb chocolate chips & no weird taste or texture, either (in my opinion). Of course, one batch of muffins (I made 8 extra big ones) that takes a bit of work and also COSTS a bit of money ($12.99???!!!) makes you question whether to buy the mix again. If I still love them as much after I finish the whole batch, I might relent and fork over another $12.99, who knows? This review is specific to Muffin Mix, Chocolate Chip
December 27, 2014Reviewer: Scott in Florida* I tried the banana version, first thing I noticed was as they cooked the tops developed a hard, shiny crust that looked abnormal for a muffin, similar to a French bread. When I broke one open it smelled right, but the taste had a strange maple-like chemical overtone, presumably from the sweetener used. Even smearing it with butter couldn't obscure the bad taste, which is saying a lot. I ate one but threw the rest away. I've also tried the New Hope Mills brand muffins and they are MUCH better, much closer to "real" muffins, although they lack flavor intensity. This review is specific to Muffin Mix, Banana
